Valve Cover Gasket for Beetle

    drucifer, i did call the dealer and you are right. i gave them my VIN and they told me it is the whole cover i have to get.

    The part# for my 2006 New Beetle is 038-103-469-AF

    How could they tell from the phone? Unless you are the original owner and know the valve cover was never updated.

    I gave them my VIN. The guy on the phone did seem surprised that i needed the whole cover. He gave me the part # and told me to search the internet. I am the second owner and i doubt it was ever changed out. When i bought the car I did have the timing belt replaced as a precaution, so i dont think the mechanic would have replaced the cover then. But i am not sure if removing the cover is a requirement for timing belt replacement.

    I may have to bring it to the mechanic to change it out anyways, it seems the back bolts are pretty hard to get to on the beetle.
