I got a Golf mk3 with AHU 1.9 TDI engine and 350.000 km on the clock.
The A/C never worked and I don't care about it anyways.

Is it possible to just rip out the tubes, leaving only the pump in place?
I know it might release the gas but since it never worked I'd assume it's leaked out anyway at this mileage.

Not possible to remove the entire belt, it also powers the alternator.
Is it possible to remove entire AC compressor and install a shorter belt?
Want to get rid of the stuff that's not used.

Maybe a shorter belt, because not all came with AC.

But yea its the driving of the pump that decreases MPG.

Oftentimes there's another idler pulley there and a different belt. You have to refer to the parts catalog for this, then put in the alternative no-AC parts.

ive ignored this too long... you need different waterpump pully from a vr6.. you will eliminate the ps pully from the wp and use the vr6 one.. then look up a 1992 passat 16v ps belt.. it uses only the crank/ps pump pully.. thinking 10x640 or 645.... 10x740 is your oe belt size.. for 3 pully set up..

the serp belt will be 6pk 1045 with the vr6 pully
