We have a 2015 Passat TDI, and the coolant light came on. It only needed about a 1/2 cup of coolant, so that's no biggie to me. The interesting thing is that there are two white plastic cylinders in the bottom of the bottle that do not seem to be attached to anything. I didn't think to take a picture before I topped off the bottle. Does anyone know what they are?

Thanks for the info! I guess they just throw them in the bottle now, rather than having a built in pocket.

Or new ones were just thrown in?

That's the way it looks. When I get a chance I'll see if I can get a picture.
