    I'm posting this in General because it isn't only a Mk6 Golf problem as the same type of light is fitted to other models.

    I've had an error code for a few months. The indictor strip light works on both mirrors so I haven't really bothered about it. Last week I noticed the light in the drivers door the one with the fault code isn't as bright. VW in there stupid wisdom don't show these LED bulbs as a replacement item you have to buy a new light unit. I was going to count the number of LED lights when I went out today but I forgot. I think there are 5 or 6.

    This is stupid you have to buy a new light if the bulb goes, I believe its the same for the rear fog light LED which you don't have in the States.

    I've google it LED amber bulb strip 12v. There are sellers on fleabay

    I was wondering if anyone else has had the error code or replace the LED bulbs in the mirror?

    As no one tried these LED strips?

    The Ministry of Transport (MOT) test is due at the end of month so it looks like I will have to buy a new unit. This is another reason I shouldn't have bought a VW. Along with Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF), Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and the drivers seat.

    Hello Keith;
    If left LED turn indicator on mirror is dim, then you can try cleaning contacts by removing mirror. I had this happened to me once on my 2009 Jetta ( Petrol engine).

    Fitting one of these LED strips in would have been no good as its a sealed unit.

    There is nothing in ElsaWin about mirrors only wiring.

    I checked the contacts all clean and there is battery voltage to it. I had to order a new unit from my dealer.

    You need a T10 Torx screwdriver.

    Its fitted to the black plastic bottom mirror cover, extra cost that's not needed.

    While I was there I had a couple of wiper blades (as they are now 7 years old, that because I clean them with methylated spirits), the passenger side is shorter than the drivers side, which is stupid as you can't swap them if one doesn't wipe as good.

    1 set aerodynamic wiper blades driver and passenger - 1Q1 998 002 - £34.12

    There are a couple of video's on YouTube.
