    Hello everyone,
I am going to do my best to explain my situation with my 2003 Jetta wagon TDI and it’s airbag control module.

I purchased this car last winter locally. I was told that the airbag control module has a common fault/failure that causes the light to be lit up. When I got the car home, I ran a scan with VCDS and came across error: 65535

I followed the information on Ross-tech’s page and haven’t been able to get this resolved.

Here is my autoscan with the factory airbag control module:

Over the summer, I’ve sourced two airbag control modules from MK4 Jetta wagon’s and tried to install them but the light still is present. Knowing that there has to be more to this, I followed this guide this afternoon:
    http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Airbag_Coding

I found that the description/images of the Index ID seems to be different on Ross-tech’s page than what comes on the control module.

    The image that Ross-tech shows:

And what comes on my original airbag module:

Regardless, below are the two other airbag control modules I was able to source:

When I had the factory airbag control module installed, I went into 15-Airbags and Coding.

The Software code/workshop was filled out.
When I installed the airbag control module with the Index 01 number, the software code and workshop were the same.

I am completely lost on how to get this replacement airbag to work and be rid of this code.

I do realize that my scan earlier shows the airbag igniter – Driver’s side (N95) fault, it wasn’t there before so it may be something to do with the connection.

When I was playing around with VCDS in the airbag coding section, there is no mention of a coding helper like the airbag coding page shows.

I hope this is clear and I can clarify whatever is needed. With it being winter, I’m more concerned with getting the airbags to work for our safety.

    Thank you :)
