Chevy Cruze diesel sales vs VW Jetta TDI

    HPFP means it uses a high pressure common rail fuel pump. It does not use an old school injection pump that times the fuel injection. It uses an older design HPFP vs. the newer HPFP that VW uses. It's been more reliable so far. Bosch makes both.

    I forget who makes the engine but it's made in Europe.

    Honestly, if it weren't for the cramped back seat I would've gone with the Cruze. I routinely have five adults in the car (2 of us are 250+ and the biggest sits in the back) and the Cruze just wouldn't have been viable for that. The Jetta is just fine, even if the suspension sags a bit.

    I had brief thoughts, but because I needed two high fuel mileage vehicles, I left it at the fantasy stage. No 5spd sealed the non-deal (in my mind). I am, however, wishing that the car turns out well.
