Hi all, got a question from one of my mates about his 2.0Tdi A4, and despite constant work we're no further forward.

Basically, every so often it will throw a code for the Cam position sensor, Signal out of range. finally thought we had it sorted with replacement sensor (OEM) and the belt removed, locked and reinstalled. Following this it has been running fine for the past 6 weeks and but it cut out again and had to limp it home.

Checked the torsion values and before it was happy at -2.95 (following the belt work), When checked after the cut out, it moved to + 7.65, check the markers I put on there (the three bolts holding the cam sprocket on) after the belt was timed properly and nothing seems to of moved.

As such, we are stumped as to what has caused the Torsion Value to change so drastically and cause the poor running time and again, we've adjusted the sprockets several times now to get it back to a running and usable condition.

    Any Ideas guys?

You haven't rotated the crank anti clockwise have you ? This causes the tensioner to loosen off allowing the cam/crank timing to move altering your torsion value,, well at least on the 1.9pd it does not sure with the 2.0tdi .
just a thought , hope you get it sorted

Have you checked the cable isn't damaged to sensor?
