on the 2015 SLE TDI Jetta there is what I believe to be a sensor its located in 2 locations on the rear deck and in the middle just behind the rear seats in the cargo area. its 3-4 inches long and its red on one side and black everywhere else. What is this?

    Thanks

Well I had a look in ETKA. You say there are 2 of them 1 behind the rear seat and 1 on the boot. The only thing with a similar shape is:

    Additional brake light - 6RU 945 087 - £36.17 was dropped on 01/03/2016 6RU 945 087 C - £36.17

These won't be behind the rear seat.

There should be a part number on it post that?

Here's the photo of the side that has the numbers.

250315 803-760 04S doesn't look like the OEM part number to me.

One of them was right under the Fender sub woofer. The placement all seems really weird. I had thought that it could part of the airbag system but just where it is and being held on with a plastic clip seemed a bit moronic for that application. The photo with the numbers is from the one in the middle just behind the back seat under the carpet of the spare. It's also integrated into the factory harness with the typical black fiberic tape they use. So I can't see how it's not OEM.

I know you've posted this question a few days ago, but I was too lazy to bother to login to reply because I thought many others would have taken the initiative to reply.

That's your Kessy sensor. It prevents you from accidentally leaving your key in your trunk and locking it. If you leave your key in your trunk, the trunk won't lock. Follow the link below.

Now that makes sense! Thank you. I was sound deadening the rear deck and was curious.
