I have been reading alot about the camshaft problems on the VW 1.9 TDI PD.

    I have a 2005 model (european) AXB VW T5.

When the car has not been used for some time, (2-4 days) it has a loud klappering "diesel sound" that goes away after 10-20minutes of running.

The car has 240.000 Km on the clock. Full service history with proper oil. Long life service and very long interval ( sometimes 35000 km between oil change). Now running with 10000 interval on oilchange.

Opened up the valvecover today, and rotated the cam to see all the lobes. (lifted car, put 5th gear and turned one wheel to rotate engine).

Is this normal, worn or ready for new camshaft and tappets?

    Thanks.
