I have to do this because the ECU is reading abnormally high levels of oxygen in the exhaust and so is pumping more fuel in to compensate. My fuel consumption is going UP instead of down because the ECU is still set on the old paramaters that worked without the extra oxygen. I have to reset the ECU and then go for a long ride so that it can formulate a new set of parameters WITH the extra oxygen and then that should be considered the norm.Question:------ HOW DO I WIPE THE ECU?????.The guys i bought the kit from gave me a procedure that was supposed to wipe it but after trying it twice i am still getting high fuel consumption. It's no good going back to the suplier as all he will say is keep trying the procedure. There must be some other way----------HEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPP.

I've never heard of a AHQ, what does it say on your data sticker or timing belt cover?

The only Passat 2.8 aren't TDI.

Thanks for the helpful advice, Keithuk, and xeno555 +the smartass comment from xeno555. My mistake, sorry, my car is an ATQ petrol 2.8l v6 30 valve NOT a TDI and there is nothing ODD BALL about it as it is only one step below the W8.!!!!!
In case you are wondering, this Passat is my 67th car that I have owned and i have owned, rebuilt and driven just about any brand of car you would care to name. I am a retired electronics/mechanical/coputer engineer and presently restoring a 1949 DKW F9 car of 2nd world war vintage. So please don't try to humour me but give me straight answers that will solve my problems as this is the first VW of this type I have owned and you guys have the expetise and experience to advise me accordingly so I am VERY open to advice of any kind at this stage.!!xeno555's suggestion to consult tuners is a good one and I will be taking up that line of inquiry. There is a hydrogen seller in the UK who supplies ECU chips with his kits to take care of the switch over so I might ask if he sells the chips seperately.

Have just bought a chip that does the job from Alternative Energies HHO Plus in Potugal. They manufacture fuel cells and kits which include a 200 mhz microprocessor EFIE HHO chip which is spliced into Your OBD-II port wiring . It replaces the generic ECU map with a customised one that is tuned to accept hydrogen in the system.Solves my problem perfectly and it only cost 89.00 Euro's. A BIG thanks for all your your suggestions guys and sorry for the grumpiness from this old bugger.
