Anyone have information about the Turbocharged Mahindra common rail diesel powered vehicle that is supposed to be imported and sold by:

Looks good but I'd be worried about them sticking around for warranty and the long term. It looks like they are only making trucks. Is Izuzu still around?

After reading different information from many sources, my enthusiasm has diminished. Mahindra is going to have to do some serious adjustments to quality and price to have any kind of success in the U.S.

I still think competition is good and anything that can attempt to give VW something to think about re diesel engines is fine with me.

Small pickups don't sell as wel as they used to and it'll be harder to hide the cost of a diesel engine in the cost of a cheap pickup. IMHO, looks nice but they're working against Ford and GM for the mainstream buyer. This is the sort of car that looks like it would sell well in other markets where they prefer small pickups.

The reason why small pickups don’t sell as well as they used to is because manufacturers have neglected this segment for far too long. And unfortunately there is plenty of evidence showing this:
- The Ford Ranger will be discontinued in 2011 and its successor, dubbed, ‘T6’ Ford Ranger, will be sold outside of North America
- The promising VW Amarok will also not be sold in North America
- The rumored phase outs of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon will be replaced by vehicles not sold in the US

I really think a fresh face is needed to revive the segment and I think the Mahindra TR20 and TR40 are the right trucks to do it. First off, A CLEAN DIESEL ENGINE (!!!) that will offer long-term durability and excellent fuel mileage. I never quite understood our disdain of diesel – it offers so many benefits, and diesels are a far cry from the diesels of the 70s. And let’s also not forget the trucks’ over-the-top payload capacity. I’m really looking forward to their arrival.
